At Bove Health, some of our products are CBD "Broad Spectrum", The Balance Oil 10% + 1%, The Chill Cream o The Ritual SerumBut what does "Broad Spectrum" really mean and what are its effects? We tell you all about it in this blog.
Hemp, also known as cannabis, and its flagship molecule CBD (legal in the United States), is the most widely used Spain), is our raison d'être since 2021. Oil, Serums,Creams... You will find CBD in many of our products for its anti-inflammatory, anti-seborrhoeic, antioxidant and nourishing properties.
What is broad-spectrum CBD?
It all comes down to the extraction of the molecule from the hemp plant. In the "Broad Spectrum", the CBD molecule is extracted with other molecules present in the plant (including THC, which is illegal in France above 0.3% and is completely removed): these are the so-called cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids in particular. The latter, thanks to the so-called "entourage effect"They act synergistically to make CBD even more effective, in a natural way.
Why CBD Broad Spectrum?
Because this is the natural concentration of cannabinoids in the cannabis flower (European variety). On the market, we sometimes see CBD oil at 20%, 30% and sometimes 40%... It is possible, adding insulator. But, less bioavailable - and therefore less assimilable - by the body. At Bove Health, we prefer the policy of less but better. And natural, broad-spectrum CBD (without isolate) is the most effective when ingested, because it allows for the Entourage effect mentioned above, i.e. the synergy of all cannabinoids. That's why we have developed with our expert extractor, a Broad Spectrum CBD to 11%.
A study published by the Lautenberg Center for Immunology and Cancer Research, which focused on the efficacy of the CBD isolate compared to the whole, large plant extractsupported this concept and in its summary stated that ".In all tests, isolated CBD was ineffective both before and after a given dose, while the effectiveness of the full-spectrum solution continued to increase as the doses administered increased. All results indicate that CBD is only effective against inflammation and pain at a certain dose and that marijuana solutions containing a certain amount of CBD are not effective against inflammation and pain. full range of cannabinoids will continue to provide corresponding effects as the dose increases".
Hemp extracts: What makes them different?
Depending on the type of cannabis flower extraction that is used for the process, the cannabinoid profile of your cannabis flower will vary depending on the type of extraction used. CBD oil will be different in some ways, as each type of extraction has its pros and cons, having its own unique molecular profile of both cannabinoids and terpenes.
For example, industrial hemp extracts, which is the type of extract used for CBD products in Spain, contain traces of the psychotropic molecule of Cannabis, THC, which by law must be below 0.2%, so they are not psychotropic, i.e. even if they contain traces of THC in their formula, they cannot "get you high". This is only the Full Spectrum extracts.
Depending on the purpose of the final product, companies choose to use a spectrum of cannabinoids, what happens to the phyto-cannabinoids after the initial extraction determines whether the extract is of full spectrum, broad spectrum or CBD isolate. Each term refers to the degree of processing of the product and the variety of molecules in the final extract.
1. Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol (CBD) and all other compounds in the plant, except THCwhich is completely removed after the initial extraction by decarboxylation (a heated process).
Because the broadly defined extracts spectrum contain various types of cannabinoidsalso produce the entourage effectbut without the risk or concern that you are also using THC, which studies show in small traces can enhance the benefits and bioavailability attributed to CBD considerably, although according to one study, the benefits and bioavailability of CBD can be significantly enhanced. studyThe efficacy based on the bioavailability of the extracts in the human body, it could be seen that Broad Spectrum and the Full Spectrum They had virtually the same effect, with the latter being somewhat more effective.
In a very simplified way, broad-spectrum CBD is like a mix between full-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. It contains the full spectrum of cannabinoids except for the THC molecule, which is responsible for the psychotropic effect of Cannabis.
- It can offer the advantages of the "entourage effect" even without THC.
- As it is generally a distillate, it is less chemically processed than pure CBD.
- As it does not contain THC, it can be used by athletes and people allergic to this molecule.
- Higher price than pure CBD.
Broad spectrum works best for:
- CBD users with mild problems where pure CBD did not give them relief.
- People sensitive to THC.
- People who want to experience the benefits of terpenes.
2. CBD Aisaldo or "Pure".
CBD isolate, the purest form of cannabidiol (CBD), which can be purchased, does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol, other cannabinoids or plant matter. Extracted from the hemp plant, it is often the most logical choice for people who are sensitive to THC or need to avoid it. Purified CBD can help control anxiety, the insomnia y chronic pain. However, the isolated or pure form completely removes any other cannabinoids, terpenes or flavonoids, eliminating the possibility of the benefits of the all-important entourage effect.
- The most concentrated CBD extract (99%).
- Tasteless and odourless.
- Reduced price.
- Completely eliminates the possibility of benefiting from the sequestration effect.
CBD isolate is best for:
- People using CBD at very high %.
- People allergic to THC or other cannabinoids.
- CBD consumers who prefer products without terpenes or flavour.
3. Full Spectrum CBD
The differentiation between the CBD extracts called Full Spectrum is used when the CBD oil is made with a extract containing all or almost all of the molecular compounds naturally present in the hemp plant. This includes the CBD (Cannabidiol)as well as other cannabinoids (CBG(Cannabigerol), CBN(Cannabinol)), terpenes and flavonoids and concentrations of THC below 0.2 %. However, even the smallest trace of THC could still test positive in a drug test, so it is always wise to ask the brand to test the product before use.
In Full Spectrum CBD oil, in addition, the "CBD" is produced.entourage effect"interaction that improvement the bioavailability (and therefore, the effect) of each molecule it contains and that it The therapeutic potential of the oil is enhanced.
Featuring all of these cannabinoids, some research indicates that full-spectrum cannabinoid CBD, has a higher concentration of benefits than the Isolated. If you want to to exploit the full therapeutic potential of the cannabis plant, for you with no THC concerns, this could be an option that suits you.
- It offers its consumers the well-known "entourage effect" in full.
- It is the least processed CBD extract, the most similar profile to the hemp plant.
- It contains other cannabis molecules with therapeutic properties, such as terpenes.
- As laws change from country to country, products containing THC may not be allowed in your location.
- It has a stronger flavour and aroma.
- It is possible to test positive in anti-doping tests and drug tests, although this is not common.
