How CBD oil can make me sleep better

How CBD can be an ally to regulate our Endocannabinoid System and help us achieve a restful sleep.

cannabinoid is an organic compound belonging to the group of terpenophenols, active in the human organism. Responsible for the plant's characteristic medicinal effects.

At bovē we rely on both scientific studies and the conclusions and judgements of official bodies to report on the potential benefits of CBD.

The World Health Organisation's Expert Committee on Drug Dependence concluded in November 2017 that CBD "... is a drug that can be used to treat drug dependence.is neither addictive nor harmful to health, and may have therapeutic properties.

On 1 January 2020, we learned that the World Anti-Doping Agency removed CBD from the list of globally banned substances. Any athlete can use CBD without incurring any suspension or fine for doping.

On 2 December 2020, the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) recognised the medicinal properties of cannabis and removed it from the classification of the most dangerous narcotic drugs!

And, if I have sleep problems, what do I do?

Anxiety, stress and pain are three of the main causes of insomnia and sleeplessness; and in a vicious cycle, lack of sleep can exacerbate all three conditions. By reacting with the human endocannabinoid system, CBD produces calming, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects in the body that can help users achieve restful sleep. Unlike sleeping pills, CBD users do not feel drowsy or tired during the day; instead, CBD promotes homeostasis - or balance - within the body, helping users to function properly on a daily basis.

In addition, bovē advises to avoid:

  • Naps of more than 1 h
  • Irregular bedtimes (disruption of circadian rhythm)
  • Tobacco and alcohol
  • Caffeine 6 h before bedtime
  • Stressful activity (e.g. sport, loud music, use of computer/mobile phone) before bedtime
  • Using the bed for any activity other than sleeping
  • Periods of wakefulness in bed

CBD is not a hypnotic, as are: benzodiazepines and non-benzodiazepine sleep inducers. In addition, antidepressants can be recommended depending on the individual's profile. As is well known, hypnotics are not recommended for long periods of time of time due to its potential adverse effects. CBD oil simply helps you rest better after dark, without all those side effects, in a NATURAL way.

So we advise you to always go to bed at the same time, have a light dinner and do without technology for a while before going to bed.

Your CBD oil, a good book(s) and fresh, clean sheets.

And how do I take CBD oil to improve my sleep?

As mentioned above, there are no clear validated indications for CBD consumption. In principle, we recommend that Each person should adapt his or her consumption on an individual basis, starting with small doses.

Generally speaking, experts agree that regular, daily use should be adopted to maximise the effects of CBD. This should be done in consultation with your doctor if you are taking medication to ensure there is no risk of interactions.

The most common form is sublingual use.. In the United States, Canada, France, Italy and even Germany, where CBD is legal for ingested consumption, but not in Spain, where it is only legal for external use.

However, you can also give a relaxation boost by massaging the neck with the same oil, as 100% is natural and can also be used topically, providing an extra release.

It is surprising how much scientific literature there is on the subject focusing on Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabiger (CBG) and their benefits on sleep. A study published in 2019 looked at whether CBD could improve sleep and or reduce anxiety. The study involved 72 subjects, of whom 47 experienced anxiety and 25 had poor sleep. The subjects each received 25 milligrams (mg) of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 percent of patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 percent reported better sleep.

Pain, which can also cause sleep problems, can also be remedied by CBD. An revision Frontiers in Pharmacology noted that there is a good deal of evidence to support the claim that CBD relieves pain. The authors point out that by reducing chronic pain, CBD can improve sleep.

Other research tells us that CBD affects the sleep cycle. An investigation in 2014 looked at four patients with Parkinson's disease. It found that CBD improved symptoms of REM sleep behaviour disorder (RBD), a disorder in which a person acts out their dreams. RBD is associated with poor sleep and nightmares.

A scientific review 2017 also noted that CBD may be useful for treating RBD, and that it shows potential for treating excessive daytime sleepiness.
Lightheadedness, another symptom of insomnia, may also be affected by CBD. A review of 2014 found that CBD may have the potential to promote wakefulness, based on research in both humans and animals. The authors noted that they were not sure how or why CBD promotes wakefulness in some cases.

Talk to your doctor before you try CBD oil.

It is essential that you talk to your doctor before taking supplements or medications of any kind, including CBD. A doctor is best equipped to tell you how to use CBD to improve your sleep based on your specific circumstances.

If you are taking other medications, please check with your doctor to make sure there are no interactions with CBD. It is especially important to rule out interactions with other drugs metabolised in the liver, a process that would result in an increase of the drug in the plasma. Although the exact dose of CBD for the appearance of interactions is not clear, it is assumed that these are cases with high doses of CBD and in no case are they life-threatening.
